Whales Outside of Water, 2017

I happened to be in New Zealand during an ecological crisis.

In February 2017, about 400 whales were swept to the shore due to, supposedly, sonar-water pollution. One morning whales appeared on the shore of the Golden bay, dying. Authorities immediately asked for help, and volunteers from all around came with the attempt to rescue the whales.  The goal was to keep the whales wet enough- with blankets and buckets of water until the high tide would arrive to sweep them back to the waters. For long hours, people were fighting, praying and hoping to minimize the damage that was made by humans
